The lead

AWS and Databricks are moving at a pace not seen since the late 2010s. AWS added 174 releases in the last quarter compared to the prior quarter, Databricks added 113. For context, the next closest mover was GitHub at 62. The two cloud platform leaders are outshipping the field by a factor of two or more.

This matters because most teams running on AWS or Databricks also run on adjacent tooling in the cooling-off column. Notion dropped 36 releases, Fivetran 38, Tableau 15. The gap creates pressure: your cloud and data platform vendors are raising the feature bar and deprecation tempo while your collaboration, integration, and BI tools slow down.
